Dark and edgy batman begins trumps the rest - Batman Begins Reviews
I'm a huge Batman fan and most of the previous installments left me with a sour taste in my mouth for the movie franchise of my comic book hero. I did like Val Kilmer as Batman but he seemed too depressed and not vengeful enough.
Whoever thought to cast Christian Bale as Batman struck gold with this brilliant decision. Bale brings an intensity to the character that was lacking in most of the performances of past Batman movies. The murder of ones parents would make anybody lust for vengenace and Bale brings this violent rage and need for justice across perfectly in his perfomance.
Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine do a good job with what they were given and the poise and presence that each brings to the screen helps to lift this film to a higher level. The only problem I had with this film was Katie Holmes. Katie was o.k. in some scenes but most of the time she looked lost and out of place.
Overall this movie is well acted, moody, and the visuals help to set the dark tone of the film. I recommend this film to everyone because in a season of horrible films, this is one of the good movies out there. To those movie fans that like edgy films like Sin City, you're going to love this film.
Now run to your nearest theater and see this movie.
